Picture this; you join a new business and you are excited and on an emotional high. Then, you go home and try to explain to your family, that you’re about to become a millionaire. You are in the stratosphere of happiness and excitement when your mom says; “That’s not going to work! Uncle Phil tried that stuff 32 years ago and he didn’t make a dime. Whoosh! You go plummeting to earth at light speed, but before you crash, your best friend says that he would love to hear about your business and you are back on the way up. Welcome to the emotional rollercoaster of network marketing. The proper MLM mindset will teach you how to stay off of these extreme highs and lows, and maintain a constant, even keel.
Learn to Embrace Rejection.
Listen, no matter how fantastic your business is, and there are plenty of great businesses out there, not everyone is going to want to join. It’s not you, it’s just that most people have no idea how to run a business, coach others to success, and tough it out for the long haul with no immediate financial results. However, with the proper development of an MLM mindset, you will understand this and learn that when someone says no, it is not personal, and there are at least several others who will say yes to either your business or your product. In the case of Internet Marketing, the people may be out there searching for you!
You must learn that when people, including your family, try to discourage you, you should turn your disappointment into the fuel that gives you the courage to keep going until you make things happen with your business. It does not matter if you make something small happen or something big, just keep going until something happens. Then use the excitement from making something happen, to make something else happen. You will find that the second time is a little easier than the first and that will give you a push. It really is about having the right MLM mindset to stay the course to success.
Don’t Pitch; Listen!
People do not care how much you know, until they know how much you care. Don’t run around pitching your business to people that you do not know and that you have not taken the time to learn about. You need to establish a relationship. This does not have to take weeks, it just takes enough time to find out why someone would be interested in doing this business? What benefits would they like your business to provide for them? Are they serious? If it provided the benefits that they wanted, would they take action?
Once you have the answers to some of these questions, you will have a better understanding of who is sitting in front of you or on the other end of the phone, etc. The MLM mindset will put you in control of the situation and make you look like a sincere professional instead of a desperate newbie.
It takes time to develop a strong MLM mindset, but it is an investment that pays for itself numerous times throughout your marketing career. Invest in a mentor, books, trainings or whatever is needed to ensure that you will calmly ride for as long as it takes to get to your destination. Throw your hands up in the air and scream with excitement. It’s all up to you.
